Breakouts during the festive season...?

Hmmms.. What possibly could be the reason?

During this festive season we tend to apply make up to enhance our beauty. The houses that we go to during our visitings will have a spread of food, raya goodies (e.g.: cakes, cookies) and carbonated drinks.

Here's some insight to why...

1. Not removing make up thoroughly

The Koreans/Japanese are known for their beautiful/glass skin. They practices double cleansing. I personally practices double cleansing on a daily basis followed by toner to ensure there is no traces of make up left.

For double cleansing, you can use a facial wipes/micellar make up remover/ oil cleanser first. If you use waterproof make up, you may need oil base cleanser to remove the make up first. Thereafter I will use Whifflove Fresh Cream Rose as a cleanser to remove the remnants of make up.

Also, choose non-comodegenic make up as it doesn't clog the pores. Clogged pores are the cause for pimples as well.

2. Consuming too much sugar

Sugar and foods high on the glycemic index lead to a burst of inflammation that goes throughout your entire body. Meaning that the cakes, cookies and carbonated drinks that you consumed will be converted quickly into glucose and cause your body's insulin levels to spikes and further exacerbate inflammation. Steep insulin spikes increase the production of skin oils and contribute to the clogging of follicles, which can worsen skin complexion. When this mixed with the make up that you apply on your face increase the chance of pimple. Especially if the make up use is those comodegenic type.

3. Hormones

Sometimes we tend to get pimples during our time of the month. Which there's nothing much we can do. How annoying! I tend to be more careful with my food and change my skincare to what I need. For me I will use Whifflove Beat the Flush as a toner followed by Whifflove Calm My Skin to reduce redness and minimise it size on my face. Beat the Flush contains clary sage which helps to regulate the hormones. Beat the Flush is not recommended for pregnant women due to clary sage as it will cause contractions. For those pregnant women, you can use Whifflove Beat the Heat for your hormonal pimples. Whifflove Rosey Clay Mask can be use 2-3 days once so that it can trap the extra oil/dirt on our face to purify the face.

4. Dirty Beauty Tools

We use our sponges and brusher to apply make up on our faces. These tools contains our remnants of make up be it in liquid form or powder form. Liquid is a good medium for bacteria to multiply. These very tools will then be reuse again during our next make up application. Please wash your tools on a weekly basis. Alternatively, u can buy a brush cleaner spray for use after every application is done  with. Followed by a proper cleansing with brush soap weekly or two weekly depends on how dirty and often you use your beauty tools. It can be cumbersome but it saves a lot of  unwanted pimples!

Just refrain from touching your face. You may never know how clean is your fingers.

Just be more mindful with the amount of raya cookies you are consuming and the number of carbonated drinks you have drank. What you can do, is request for plain water or bring your own to remind yourself. We have lost some weight during the blessed month of Ramadhan. I definitely don't want to gain the weight back so fast.

Enjoy your Eid!

Much Love,
